Writers' Workshop
The Taproot Experience
We believe that writers do their best work as part of a supportive creative community. Taproot began as a weekly writers' workshop and, while the scope of our collective has expanded, our workshop remains central to all that we do. We gather remotely every week to share new pages, read work out loud, and give constructive criticism. Our members' work encompasses everything from horror screenplays to fantasy novels – we are proud of the diversity of genre, style, and themes present in the work brought to Taproot every week. The Taproot workshop provides a safe space for experimentation, a sounding board to work through thorny issues, and a weekly deadline to motivate the creation of new work. Since many of our members are actors as well as writers, the workshop also provides the opportunity to hear work read aloud by professional actors – an invaluable experience for any playwright or screenwriter. The weekly nature of the workshop – and the consistency in membership – means that work develops over time, with members contributing feedback to various scenes and drafts with the full knowledge of the work's history.

We offer an open workshop once a month, where anyone interested in Taproot can participate. Interested? Contact us below!
